The Great State of Moto-chussetts

New England is well known as a great destination for motorcyclists. With its scenic highways and byways, terrific two-lane twisty roads, beautiful valley vistas, idyllic shore and coastline, quaint, rural villages and abundant hills…hither and yon…the region seems to have it all. But there’s one more attraction that separates it, and particularly…the great state of Massachusetts. That being, the Annual IMOC (Italian Motorcycle Owners Club) Rally!

The 2012 event was IMOC’s 29th Annual affair, and was held on September 16. Once again, the Hamilton Rod & Gun Club in Sturbridge, Mass. proved to be the perfect venue. Centrally located within the New England area, it always draws enthusiasts from up and down the Eastern seaboard and beyond. And as a motorcycle mecca, it’s a destination that can be reached via an abundant array of those two-lane twisties as mentioned above…or over the super slab if time is of the essence.

So on this special Sunday in September…with the cooperation of Mother Nature…Sturbridge, Massachusetts turned into what could be considered a mythical state of Moto-chusetts. Attendance was huge, with some 400 Italian-made motorcycles on hand along with about 1,000 participants.

This year’s featured machine was the Italian dual-sport, and the full row of knobby-tired two wheelers did not disappoint. And the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (J.D.R.F.)…our charity of record…wasn’t disappointed either, due to the highest contribution ever received from IMOC.

Likewise, all the dealers and vendors who exhibited, supported the event and provided door prizes made a wonderful contribution, as well. They included:

Branchville Motors
TideMark Press
Dunbar Euro-Sport
Vanson Leathers
The Laverda Club
Marty Voker Enterprises
Marsh Motorcycles
Wagner Motorsports
Sea Coast Sport Cycles

As always, they say “you’ll see anything and everything at the IMOC Rally.” This year was no exception and there was yet other feature that was bigger and better than ever. There were even more awards presented this year, too. Including:

So that’s just a little snapshot of the myriad of Italian iron that made its way onto the lush lawn beside beautiful Hamilton Lake at the Rod & Gun Club in Sturbridge. As America’s biggest and longest-running all Italian motorcycle event, the IMOC Rally is such an extravaganza that it transcends itself into a state of mind…and fuels our passion for the year that follows.

So before I forget, mark your calendar now for the 2013 Annual IMOC Rally…which will also be our 30th Anniversary event! Sunday, September 15, 2013. The featured machine will be the Ducati Bevel bike.

Look forward to seeing you in that mythical place in New England, known as…
                                                                                                                                      Moto-chusetts.
